McAllister Towing and Transportation has taken delivery of the 6,770hp (5,050kW) tractor tug Mary McAllister, the sixth of seven vessels in a series built by Washburn and Doughty Associates.
The tug will begin work in Baltimore alongside sister vessel Isabel McAllister. She will later relocate to its planned homeport at Port Everglades, Florida.
The 293GT tug measures 93 feet (28 metres) long and 38 feet (12 metres) wide, with a loaded draught of 17 feet (5.2 metres). Her bollard pull is rated at 84 tonnes. Two US EPA Tier IV-compliant Caterpillar 3516E engines drive Schottel SRP 490 FP Z-drive units.
Mary McAllister is the first tug in the series with full firefighting capability.
Her equipment includes a Caterpillar C18 fire pump and a Fire Fighting Systems monitor that can deliver water and foam at a rate of 12,000 gallons (45 cubic metres) per minute.
The vessel also has Rose Point navigation equipment and Starlink connectivity. Accommodation features across the series include mini-split air conditioning, satellite television, and three heads.
The tug was launched on June 11. Earlier vessels in the series are Eileen McAllister, Jane McAllister, Grace McAllister, Isabel McAllister and Gerard McAllister.
The seventh tug in the series, Cathy McAllister, is scheduled for launch in February 2027.
