Netherlands' Pot Scheepvaart orders additional multi-purpose carrier

Netherlands-based transport company Pot Scheepvaart has placed an order for a new cargo vessel to be built by local shipyard Royal Bodewes.

The vessel is the second in a series of multi-purpose carriers that Royal Bodewes will build for the same owner. As with the first vessel, the newer one will also have an LOA of 107.23 metres, a deadweight of 6,340, and a hull that complies with Finnish/Swedish Ice Class 1A requirements.

Construction is scheduled to start in 2026 while delivery will be in the second quarter of 2027.

China's SAIC Group welcomes new car carrier to fleet

Anji Prestige

Chinese shipping company the SAIC Group, through subsidiary Anji Logistics, has taken delivery of a new pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) built by Jiangnan Shipbuilding.

Anji Prestige belongs to a series of two PCTCs ordered by Anji Logistics from the same builder in 2022. Construction was completed in compliance with China Classification Society rules.

The newbuild has an LOA of 199.99 metres, a beam of 38 metres, a depth of 15 metres, a service speed of 19 knots, a capacity of 7,800 vehicles including those powered by lithium batteries.

New dual-fuel car carrier delivered to China's BYD

BYD Hefei

China's Guangzhou Shipyard International recently delivered a new pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) ordered by local vehicle manufacturer BYD.

BYD Hefei belongs to the same series as BYD Explorer No 1, which was delivered in 2024. However, BYD Hefei is owned by BYD whereas ownership of the earlier PCTC remained with UK shipping company Zodiac Maritime.

New Chinese-built Ro-Ro completes maiden voyage

A new Ro-Ro vessel built in China sailed on its maiden operational voyage on Wednesday, January 8.

Luyuan No 2 is the second vessel in a series of two Ro-Ro vessels designed specifically for the transport of electric vehicles. Sister ship Luyuan No 1 completed its own maiden voyage in late December 2024.

Hoegh Autoliners takes delivery of third car carrier in series

Norwegian shipping company Höegh Autoliners has taken delivery of a new pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) fitted with environment-friendly technologies.

Höegh Australis is the third in the 12-strong Aurora-class designed for the transport of rolling cargo such as up to 9,100 cars, agricultural machinery, and mining equipment as well as general solo cargo.

Sea trials completed for Anhui Hangrui’s newest car carrier

AICC Huanghu

A new pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) ordered by Chinese shipowner the Anhui Port and Shipping Group recently completed undergoing sea trials.

The trials conducted on Tuesday, December 31, saw AICC Huanghu sail to Hong Kong. The ship’s performance was deemed satisfactory by all parties that participated in the trials.

UECC takes delivery of new 7,000CEU car carrier

Blue Heritage

Norwegian shipping company United European Car Carriers (UECC) took delivery of a new pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) on Wednesday, January 1.

Built by Chinese shipyard CIMC Raffles, Blue Heritage is a sister ship of Blue Aspire, which was handed over to UECC in early December 2024.
