Seatrium announced on October 5 that it had secured a ninth project for Karpowership to turn a liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier into an FSRU. Work on LNGT Akdeniz is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2027.

The vessel will join the fleet of Kinetics, Karpowership’s LNG initiative, and is designed to regasify up to 600 million standard cubic feet per day

Seatrium will handle the engineering and conversion work, then integrate and install systems associated with the regasification equipment, before commissioning them.

The unit will bring Kinetics’ planned fleet to 12 vessels, comprising FSRUs and LNG carriers, including vessels in the pipeline.

The contract comes after Seatrium delivered seven FSRUs for Karpowership from 2018 onward, while work continues on LNGT Karadeniz, the partnership’s eighth project.

LNGT Türkiye was the last vessel in the initial conversion programme, which covered seven ships. Seatrium and Karpowership marked the vessel’s naming and sailaway in September 2026. Kinetics awarded the conversion to Seatrium in July 2025.

LNGT Akdeniz is the second project to move forward under an August 2025 letter of intent.

That agreement provides for three FSRU conversions, along with the possible integration of up to six new-generation floating power plants. The vessel is also the second unit in Karpowership’s new FSRU series.
