Kinetics, an energy company under Turkish floating power specialist Karpower, has awarded Singapore shipbuilder Seatrium a contract for the conversion of an existing LNG carrier into a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU).
This award follows Kinetics’ confirmation of the option for a fourth FSRU conversion project with Seatrium announced in April 2024. Kinestics had earlier award three FSRU conversion contracts to Seatrium.
Scheduled to commence in the third quarter of 2025, the project involves the conversion of an LNG carrier into an FSRU named LNGT Turkiye.
The scope of work includes the installation of a regasification module and a spread-mooring system, and the integration of key supporting systems such as those for cargo handling, offloading, utility use, electrical use, and automation.
The project is the seventh overall FSRU conversion work to be awarded by Kinetics to Seatrium. Two ongoing conversions are scheduled to be completed later this year and in the first quarter of 2026, respectively.
