Singapore shipbuilder Seatrium has completed the conversion of the LNG carrier LNGT Turkiye into a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) for Karpowership, with the vessel departing its Admiralty yard on Wednesday, September 23.
This is the seventh FSRU conversion project to be completed by Seatrium for Karpowership and the last vessel in the current program to leave the Admiralty facility.
The conversion contract was awarded to Seatrium by Kinetics, a business affiliated with Karpowership that develops floating LNG facilities and renewable energy platforms.
The project was announced in July 2025, with conversion work scheduled to begin during the third quarter of that year.
The work involved installing a regasification module alongside a spread-mooring system. Seatrium also integrated the vessel’s cargo handling, LNG offloading, utility, electrical and automation systems.
The completed unit can receive LNG from carriers, store the cargo on board, and return it to a gaseous state for transfer to an onshore network or associated power facilities.
Seatrium had completed earlier conversion works on Karmol LNGT Powership Africa, Karmol LNGT Powership Asia, Karmol LNGT Powership Europe, and Karmol LNGT Powership Antarctica.
Seatrium has also been selected to convert LNGT Karadeniz, Karpowership’s eighth FSRU conversion project with the yard. As previously reported by Baird Maritime, that vessel is designed to provide regasification capacity that can reach 600 million standard cubic feet per day, with conversion work planned for the third quarter of 2026.
