Damen Shipyards Group has been awarded a contract to design two new offshore terminal tugs in a series for Edison Chouest Offshore.

The 50-metre vessels will be used to provide escort, hold-back, hose-handling, and maintenance duties offshore Guyana. Each will have a bollard pull of 120 tonnes, a 27-metre aft deck with hose-flushing equipment, a full-beam sump, oil spill response equipment, and Fifi1 equipment.

The tugs will also carry a workboat to assist in hose-handling operations.

Edison Chouest will build the tugs at its Louisiana shipyard.
