Two new towage licence agreements will come into effect at the Queensland ports of Abbot Point and Mackay on October 1 this year, North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation (NQBP) has confirmed.

The non-exclusive licenses for the supply of towage services at the ports of Abbot Point and Mackay were awarded to Engage Marine and Smit Lamnalco Towage (Australia), respectively, following competitive tender processes.

Engage Marine will deploy three new tugs at Abbot Point while Smit Lamnalco will utilise its existing vessels currently operating at the Port of Mackay.
