Crowley Maritime Corporation has taken delivery of Athena, the fourth ship assist and harbour escort tug in a series built for the company by Diversified Marine.

Chartered from Brusco Tug and Barge, the newbuild complies with US EPA Tier IV pollution control technology criteria and is outfitted with remote monitoring for increased vessel efficiency and data interchange.

Athena measures 77 feet (23.4 metres) long and is powered by two Caterpillar 3516 engines with a total output of nearly 6,800 hp (5,070 kW). The engines deliver a bollard pull of 96 tons (87 tonnes).
