Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) has introduced a new type of unmanned surface vehicle (USV) intended for government and commercial applications.

The 27-foot (eight-metre) vessel is currently undergoing testing of its autonomous sailing capabilities. A recent demonstration in the waters off Florida saw the craft being equipped with commercial perception sensors including GPS, AIS, a depth transducer, radar, and a camera enabling a 360-degree field of view.

The USV’s autonomous navigation system was supplied by Sea Machines Robotics.
