The Geneva Navigation Police of Switzerland has taken delivery of a new remotely operated vehile (ROV) from France’s ECA Group.

The ROV will be used to support the navigation police’s underwater search and rescue (SAR) operations in Lake Geneva. Secondary functions will include inspection of wrecks and recovery of items from the lakebed.

The ROV has a sonar, a five-axis manipulator arm, an underwater positioning system, and an altimeter with auto-altitude function enabling navigation close to the lakebed. The maximum diving depth is rated at 1,000 metres.
