China’s Hunan Jinhang Shipbuilding has begun construction on a new emergency response vessel for the Shashi Fire Detachment in Hunan province.

The vessel will have an LOA of 62 metres, a beam of 13 metres, and two diesel engines that will deliver a speed of just over 15 knots. The main deck will be used for accommodating unmanned vehicles, excavators, and various emergency response equipment for deployment in coastal areas.

Design work on the vessel was done in compliance to China Classification Society rules.
