Stena Line’s third 215-metre ferry nearing completion

PASSENGER VESSEL WEEK

Stena Line has confirmed that construction of its third 215-metre E-Flexer-class ferry is in its final stages at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard Weihai.

Like near identical sisters Stena Estrid and Stena Edda, which have already commenced operations on the Irish Sea, Stena Embla will have capacity for 1,000 passengers and crew and 120 cars. It is expected to go into service on the Belfast-Liverpool route in early 2021.

The next two E-Flexer-class ferries to join the Stena Line fleet will be slightly larger at 240 metres long and with a 30 per cent increase in passenger capacity. Construction of these two vessels is also ongoing at China Merchants Jinling.
