Sakhalinlizingflot takes delivery of second Project PV22 ferry

Russian shipowner Sakhalinlizingflot has taken delivery of a new Project PV22 ice-class Ro-Pax ferry from local builder Nevsky Shipyard.

Pavel Leonov will be operated between Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands alongside Project PV22 lead vessel Admiral Nevelskoy, which was delivered in late 2020.

The new ferry has capacity for 146 passengers and assorted freight including containerised cargo, hazardous materials, and up to six cars. The passenger spaces also have areas that are wheelchair-accessible.

Like Admiral Nevelskoy, Pavel Leonov is designed to sail under difficult conditions to provide uninterrupted year-round transport on the operator’s Sakhalin–Kurils service.
