Russia’s Yantar Baltic Shipbuilding Plant has begun construction of a new Ro-Pax ferry that will operate in the Baltic Sea between the port of Baltiysk and the Vistula Spit.

Anton Alikhanov, governor of Western Russia’s Kaliningrad Region, said the vessel will be the lead ship in a new ferry series.

The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade is also participating in the development of the new ferry and its sisters.
