Fred Olsen Express takes delivery of second 118m trimaran ferry

Fred Olsen Express has taken delivery of Banaderos Express, the second trimaran ferry in a series built for the company by Austal Philippines.

The delivery marks the completion of the AU$190 million (US$137.9 million) contract for two trimarans awarded to Austal in December 2018. The first vessel, Bajamar Express, was delivered in July 2020 following construction at Austal Australia.

The new ferry is capable of transporting 1,100 passengers and 276 cars at a cruising speed of over 37 knots. Interior amenities and facilities include multiple bars, kiosks, a retail shop, and a children’s play area.

Banaderos Express will soon depart Austal’s facilities in Cebu for its delivery voyage to the Canary Islands.
