P&O Cruises’ newest flagship, Iona, departed the UK port of Southampton to sail on its maiden operational voyage on Saturday, August 7.

The LNG-powered vessel has capacity for 5,200 guests. However, only around that half that number was accommodated for the seven-night voyage in compliance to UK government Covid-19 regulations.

Iona was delivered by German shipyard Meyer Werft to P&O Cruises in October 2020. Among the onboard amenities are a four-screen cinema, restaurants, a lounge, a distillery, and a two-deck entertainment area.
