Keel laid for Seaway 7’s first turbine installation vessel

China Merchants Heavy Industry Haimen has laid the keel for a wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV) ordered by Oslo-based Seaway 7.

Once completed, Seaway Ventus will be the first WTIV to join the Seaway 7 fleet. Construction is in accordance to DNV standards.

Torgeir Ramstad, EVP Vessels and Installation Delivery at Seaway 7, said Seaway Ventus will achieve reductions in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by as 20 per cent compared to similar WTIVs.
