The Taiwan Coast Guard Administration (TCGA) took delivery of a new patrol vessel from Jong Shyn Shipbuilding Company of Kaohsiung on Friday, June 25.

Chenggong (“Success”) is the second of a planned 12 Anping-class cataraman patrol vessels to be built by Jong Shyn for the TCGA. It is equipped with 20-millimetre autocannons mounted on remote weapon stations as well as a high-pressure water cannon.

The vessel can reach speeds of up to 44 knots and can operate even under Beaufort scale nine wind conditions.

Chenggong‘s area of operations will encompass the waters off eastern Taiwan, where it will be used for maritime sovereignty and fisheries enforcement patrols.
