Saudi Arabia’s Zamil Shipyards has launched a new interceptor craft slated for the Royal Saudi Naval Forces.

The 32- by seven-metre vessel belongs to a series designed by France’s CMN Group for operation by Saudi Arabia. It is also the first vessel in the series to be built by a Saudi shipyard.

Once completed, the interceptor will have space for 12 crew and three diesel engines that will deliver a maximum speed of 43 knots.

Missions will include maritime security patrols, convoy protection, protection of offshore platforms, border control, and search and rescue (SAR).
