US Navy orders four Arleigh Burke-class destroyers from General Dynamics Bath Iron Works
The US Navy has awarded General Dynamics Bath Iron Works (BIW) a contract valued at US$3.9 billion for the construction of four Arleigh Burke-class destroyers.
There are currently four Arleigh Burke-class destroyers in production at BIW with two more in backlog.
Like their sisters, these destroyers will be 156 metres long and 20 metres wide. Four General Electric LM2500 35,320kW gas turbines will deliver a speed of 31 knots.
