US Navy commissions littoral combat ship Wichita

The US Navy commissioned its newest Freedom-class littoral combat ship (LCS), USS Wichita, during a ceremony on Saturday, January 12.

It is the third US Navy vessel to honour the largest city of the US state of Kansas.

Wichita is the thirteenth LCS designed and build by Lockheed Martin and Fincantieri Marinette Marine. It will be homeported at Naval Station Mayport near Jacksonville, Florida.
