Fincantieri Marine Systems North America (FMSNA), a company under the Fincantieri Marine Group (FMG), has been awarded a contract for the provision of maintenance for the US Navy’s Avenger-class minesweepers.

The navy operates eight Avenger-class minesweepers, which are homeported in Bahrain and Japan. All of the vessels have diesel engines produced by Isotta Fraschini Motori, another Fincantieri subsidiary.

All eight Avenger-class minesweepers were built in Marinette and Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, where Fincantieri operates a number of shipyards.

The contract has a combined value up to more than US$78 million.
