Sredne-Nevsky lays keel of seventh Project 12700 minesweeper

United Shipbuilding Corporation’s (USC) Sredne-Nevsky Shipbuilding Plant laid the keel for a new Project 12700 minesweeper for the Russian Navy on Friday, July 12.

The 61- by 10-metre vessel will be named Anatoliy Shlemov after a retired Russian Navy admiral who currently serves as a director of the Rubin marine design bureau.

The minesweeper will be the seventh under Project 12700, also known as the Alexandrit-class. Commissioning is scheduled for 2021.
