Qatari Emiri Navy takes delivery of first Doha-class corvette

The Qatari Emiri Navy took delivery of its first of a planned four Doha-class corvettes in a ceremony at Fincantieri’s La Spezia shipyard on Thursday, October 28.

The future Al Zubarah measures 107 by 14.7 metres and is powered by a combined diesel and diesel (CODAD) propulsion system that can deliver a maximum speed of 28 knots. The crew complement will consist of 112 officers and enlisted sailors.

The corvette also has onboard space for one rigid inflatable boat (RIB) as well as flight deck and hangar space for one NH90 utility helicopter.
