Lake Assault selected by US Navy for five-year force protection boats contract

Lake Assault Boats has been chosen to supply up to 119 Force Protection-Medium (FP-M) patrol boats to the US Navy under a five-year indefinite delivery, indefinite quanity (IDIQ) contract with a maximum value of US$56 million.

The first vessel deliveries are scheduled for November 2020.

The FP-M patrol boats will provide security for US Navy ships and personnel from waterborne threats in and outside of navy ports around the world. Missions will include patrol, interrogation of other waterborne assets, and escorting large vessels in and out of port in various weather and water conditions throughout the year, day and night.

Each FP-M will have an aluminium V-hull, a length of 10 metres, a beam of three metres, twin 167kW outboard engines, and four weapon mounts capable of accommodating 12.7-millimetre machine guns.
