Austal Australia delivered a new Guardian-class patrol boat to the Australian Department of Defence (DOD) on Wednesday, March 17.

The future HMPNGS Rochus Lokinap was handed over that same day to the Papua New Guinea Defence Force, making it the second Guardian-class boat to be delivered to Papua New Guinea under the Pacific Patrol Boat Replacement Project of the Australian government.

The 39.5-metre steel monohull vessel honours Brigadier General Rochus Lokinap, who served as commander of the Papua New Guinea Defence Force from 1987 to 1992.
