Kolkata-based Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) held a keel-laying ceremony for the first of three advanced stealth frigates for the Indian Navy on Saturday, November 10.

The contract for construction of three frigates under Project 17A is the largest order ever won by the company.

The first ship is expected to be delivered in 2023 and the next two ships in 2024 and 2025 respectively.

Each Project 17A-class frigate will have a length of 149 metres, a displacement of approximately 6,670 tonnes, and a speed of 28 knots.
