Damen lays keel of second patrol vessel in series for South African Navy

Damen Shipyards Cape Town has laid the keel of the second of three multi-mission inshore patrol vessels (MMIPVs) ordered for the South African Navy.

As with its two sister ships, at least 60 per cent of the second MMIPV will be built from components locally sourced in South Africa in compliance to navy requirements.

The MMIPVs will be delivered at a rate of one per year beginning in 2021.
