Águas Azuis, a consortium formed by Germany's ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) and Brazilian companies Embraer Defense and Security and Atech, has been selected by the Brazilian Navy as its preferred bidder for the construction of four new Tamandaré-class corvettes.

The four warships, which are scheduled for commissioning between 2024 and 2028, will conduct both territorial defence and humanitarian missions.

Construction of the corvettes will take place at the Aliança-Oceana shipyard in Brazil.
