The Jan De Nul Group has completed capital dredging works at the Port of Payra in Bangladesh.

The deepening works mean commercial vessels with draughts of up to 10.5 metres can now transit the access channel leading in and out of the port.

Two cutter suction dredgers were deployed alongside five trailing suction hopper dredgers and one water injection dredger to remove over 50 million cubic metres of soil. The works commenced in the second half of 2022 during the country’s monsoon season.

Jan De Nul will also perform maintenance dredging at the port under the same contract, which was awarded in 2021.
