French technology company Exail has secured a defence contract from an unnamed European nation for the delivery of a fleet of five uncrewed surface vehicles (USVs) for maritime intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions.

According to the company, the contract represents the largest order to date for its USV platform and reflects the growing adoption of uncrewed systems by naval and maritime security forces.

US marine robotics specialist Sea Machines Robotics recently deployed an example of its newest unmanned surface vehicle (USV) series to Subic Bay in the Philippines.

Sea Machines is proposing the USV to both military and commercial operators in the Philippines for missions that include maritime domain awareness.

Dutch Ministry of Defence partners with start-up to develop underwater drone

The Dutch Ministry of Defence is collaborating with Delft-based start-up Lobster Robotics to develop a military-grade version of an underwater drone.

The Royal Netherlands Navy will use the drone as part of a project called the rapid adoption action plan (RAAP), which aims for the swift implementation of new technologies for NATO. The drone is designed to image, identify, and classify objects on the seabed.

UAE-based marine services provider CCC Underwater Engineering (CCCUWE) has placed an order for two work-class remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) in a series from Forum Energy Technologies (FET).

Kevin Taylor, Vice President Operations for Subsea Technologies at FET, said the ROVs will be capable of operating in harsh subsea environments.

Exail to supply unmanned vessels and mine warfare systems to Indonesian Navy

French technology company Exail has been selected to supply multiple unmanned surface vessels (USVs) and mine identification and disposal systems to the Indonesian Navy.

The contract covers the delivery of four USVs along with remotely operated mine identification and disposal systems.
