Italy's Central Adriatic Sea Port Authority announced on Wednesday, October 21 that Ferretti has secured approval to expand a production hall at its shipyard in the Port of Ancona. The expansion will enable the construction of superyachts up to 100 metres long.
The €3 million ($3.36 million) project is the first to receive a single special economic zone (ZES) authorisation within the port. The port authority said the authorisation process took 54 days, including receipt of opinions from all administrations involved. Building work is expected to take six months.
The Comune di Ancona provided administrative and technical support. The Regione Marche promoted cooperation between the port authority and the national ZES structure to apply the accelerated procedure.
Mirco Carloni, president of the port authority, estimated the overall economic impact of the first intervention and associated industrial projects at approximately €30 million. "Other significant investments will follow," he said.
Marche was brought into the single ZES framework under Law No. 171 of November 18, 2025. The regional government has said the digital single authorisation can replace up to 35 separate permitting titles.
The Ancona yard was founded as a CRN shipyard in 1963 and became the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in 2019. The group describes the yard's full-custom steel and aluminium work as covering lengths of 45–95 metres.
Recent output includes the 67.55-metre hybrid superyacht Amor à Vida, which was delivered in May 2025.
Separately, Fincantieri secured a concession covering more than 314,000 square metres at Ancona in November 2025.
