Scorpio Tankers has agreed to sell three product tankers for $180.5 million and purchase four newbuildings for $415.6 million, the company said on September 29.
The company expects the sales to close before the end of 2026. The purchases comprise two LR2 product tankers and two very large crude carriers (VLCC), all scrubber-fitted.
Scorpio agreed to sell the 2014-built medium-range (MR) product tanker STI Dama for $37.5 million.
It also agreed to sell two LR2s: the 2014-built STI Elysees for $70 million and the 2015-built STI Veneto for $73 million.
The two VLCCs, priced at $135 million each, are expected to be built at Hengli Shipbuilding Dalian, with deliveries in September and October 2028.
The LR2 newbuildings, priced at $72.8 million each, are expected to be built at Jiangsu Hantong Ship Heavy Industry in China, with deliveries in October and November 2029.
Scorpio completed sales of 10 vessels in the second quarter of 2026 and another five in July.
Its fleet comprises 74 product tankers: 25 LR2s, 35 MRs and 14 Handymax tankers, with an average age of 10.2 years.
Scorpio said its agreements or letters of intent cover five MR newbuildings and eight LR2s. Its newbuilding pipeline also includes four VLCCs, with deliveries expected in 2028.
