Istanbul: Bosphorus traffic to resume after tanker engine failure
Southbound traffic in Turkey's Bosphorus strait will resume at 14:40 GMT on Thursday, having been halted earlier in the day after a tanker suffered an engine failure during northbound transit through Istanbul, shipping agent Tribeca said.
Tribeca said that the Panama-flagged tanker Cordelia Moon, destined for Russia, suffered an engine failure around the Yenikoy area and that a vessel was sent to the scene to assist.
"While en route from Yalova to Russia, the 274-meter-long tanker experienced an engine failure," the Transport Ministry said.
"The tugboats secured the vessel by attaching tow lines, ensuring its safety."
