ADNOC L&S welcomes 175,000cbm LNG carrier to fleet
UAE shipowner ADNOC Logistics and Services (ADNOC L&S) took delivery of a new LNG carrier from China State Shipbuilding Corporation subisidiary Jiangnan Shipyard on Monday, May 26.
The DNV-classed Al Rahba is the third ship in a series of LNG carriers designed and built by Jiangnan Shipyard. It has an LOA of 298.5 metres, a beam of 46 metres, and three LNG cargo tanks with a total capacity of 175,000 cubic metres.
A membrane-type cargo containment system helps keep the gas evaporation rate to just under 0.085 per cent.
An air lubrication system consisting of eight air compressors in the bow and 16 air release units on the hull bottom will form an air film between the hull and the water, thereby reducing wave resistance.
The propulsion setup meanwhile includes two main engines driving propellers via shaftlines.
The ship is a sister of Al Shelila, which was delivered last year. The fourth ship in the series was launched recently while the keel for the fifth vessel will be laid in the coming weeks.
