CLdN eyes Teesport expansion following P&O Ferries route closure
Ro-Ro ferry operator CLdN has announced it will explore an expansion of its Zeebrugge to Teesport freight service. The move follows P&O Ferries’ recent decision to close its competing service on the same route. CLdN is also considering setting up a new Rotterdam to Teesport freight route if customer demand is supportive.
CLdN launched its Zeebrugge to Teesport service in 2023 and expanded capacity on the route earlier this year. The company stated it has a long-term agreement with PD Ports, the owners of Teesport, which enables it to offer a stable service providing access to the Northeast of England and Scotland.
Gary Walker, Chief Operating Officer of CLdN’s shipping activities, said the recent arrival of two new 8,400-lane-metre hybrid Ro-Ro newbuilds, Chaumine and Leonine, has enhanced the company's ability to ship unaccompanied freight across the North Sea.
Frans Calje, Chief Executive Officer at PD Ports, added that the port is pleased to support CLdN as it looks to strengthen the route and build its network.
