Chinese shipbuilder Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC) has completed conducting sea trials of a new heavy lift vessel ordered by Chinese-Polish Joint Stock Shipping Company (Chipolbrok).
The ship is the second unit in a series of four heavy lift vessels that Chipolbrok will operate on global routes. Construction of the ships is being undertaken in compliance with DNV class rules.
The vessel has an LOA of 182 metres, a beam of 30 metres, a depth of 17 metres, a draught of 9.8 metres, a deadweight of 38,000, and a speed of 14.5 knots.
A forward superstructure layout was utilised partly to permit transport of project cargo without impeding visibility from the bridge during navigation.
The vessel has three ZPMC 350-ton cranes, an open deck, and two cargo holds that measure 78.6 metres long. Two of the 350-ton cranes can be operated in tandem while movable second decks will permit the transport of larger loads.
The ship also features a 1,000kW battery pack and energy-saving devices such as ducted propellers that help reduce the hull's surface resistance.
Hybrid propulsion will meanwhile enable low-speed sailings and harbour navigation on electric mode.
Like her sisters, the new heavy lift vessel will sail under the flag of Liberia.
