Netherlands' Longship takes delivery of final cargo vessel in series
Netherlands-based shipping company the Longship Group has taken delivery of the final vessel in a series of four general cargo ships built by Atlas Shipyard of Turkey.
Longeden has an LOA of 130 metres, a beam of 16 metres, a deadweight of 8,600, a gross tonnage of 6,795, and a diesel-electric propulsion system. The latter is EU Stage V-compliant and consists of generators driving motors connected to large-diameter, fixed-pitch propellers housed in azimuthing thrusters.
Grimaldi names new ammonia-ready car carrier
Italian shipping company the Grimaldi Group formally named its newest pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) in a ceremony in Haimen, China, on Monday, July 21.
Grande Shanghai is the first vessel in a series of five PCTCs built by China Merchants Heavy Industry Haimen to be capable of transporting 9,000 CEUs. Design work on the ships was undertaken by naval architecture firm Knud E Hansen of Denmark.
Chinese yard cuts first steel for second heavy lift ship in series
China's Sanfu Shipbuilding has cut the first steel to be used in the construction of a new multi-purpose cargo vessel ordered by an undisclosed German shipowner.
The vessel will be the second in a series ordered by the same customer. Construction of the first ship in the series began earlier this month.
K Line takes delivery of new LNG-fuelled car carrier
Japanese operator Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) recently took delivery of a new LNG-powered pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) built by Shin Kurushima Toyohashi Shipbuilding.
Tethys Highway belongs to a series of LNG-powered PCTCs that were built in compliance with ClassNK requirements.
China's BYD takes delivery of third 7,000CEU car carrier in series
Chinese vehicle manufacturer BYD took delivery of a new pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) from Guangzhou Shipyard International in a ceremony on Wednesday, July 16.
BYD Zhengzhou belongs to the same series as BYD Explorer No 1, which was delivered in 2024, and BYD Hefei, which was handed over earlier this year.
