Briese Group christens newest multi-purpose carrier

Published on:

German shipping company the Briese Group has formally named its newest multi-purpose cargo vessel. Eco Treasure is the fourth unit in a series of ten 9,000DWT vessels built by China's Dayang Offshore Equipment to a design by Netherlands-based naval architect Groot Ship Design.

Like its earlier sister ships Eco Titan, Eco Trust and Eco Trophy, which were handed over to Briese earlier this year, the newbuild measures 133 by 19 metres and is capable of carrying bulk as well as project cargo.

The superstructure is arranged on the foredeck, allowing the entire open deck area of more than 2,000 square metres to be used for the stowage of deck cargo.

The large cargo hold, with a length of about 85 metres in the lower hold and 97 metres in the upper hold, can be flexibly subdivided into several compartments by the use of tween deck panels and/or grain bulkheads.

Another five ships from the same series are scheduled to be delivered to Briese before the end of the year.
