SITC International exercises options for two additional 1,800TEU ships
Hong Kong-based SITC International Holdings, through wholly owned subsidiary SITC Shipowning, has exercised its option for the acquisition of two additional container vessels in a series to be built by Huanghai Shipbuilding of China.
The two optional ships have a total price of US$57.96 million. These are scheduled to be delivered to SITC Shipowning by before March 31, 2028, and May 31, 2028, respectively.
The two vessels will each have a deadweight of approximately 24,000 and a capacity of 1,800 TEUs. Payments for each ship will be made in five stages.
According to a previous announcement, SITC International placed an order for four firm plus six optional 1,800TEU ships with Huanghai Shipbuilding on June 29, 2024.
SITC International announced the first two optional vessels in October 2024, and the third and fourth optional vessels on January 24, 2025 Including the two vessels that came into effect this time, all six optional vessels have come into effect.
SITC International now has ten 1,800TEU container ships on order with Huanghai Shipbuilding for a total price of US$290 million.
