Hong Kong's SITC International orders two additional boxships from Chinese yard
Hong Kong-based shipowner SITC International Holdings has placed an order for an additional two container vessels in a series from Huanghai Shipbuilding of China.
The two ships have a total cost of approximately US$57.96 million and are scheduled to be handed over to SITC in the fourth quarter of 2027.
The ships will each have a deadweight of 24,000 tonnes and a capacity of 1,800 TEUs. The payment for the ships will be made in five phases, with the first instalment to be paid within nine business days upon receipt of the notice from the shipbuilder.
The order for these two additional containerships follows a firm order for four ships from the same series placed in June 2024 and an order for two optional ships placed the following October. SITC still has options to order up to two additional vessels.
SITC's decision to exercise options for additional vessels is in line with the company's program of expanding its fleet to meet operational needs.
