Spain's Guardia Civil police force has selected local aluminium boatbuilder Aister for the construction of three new patrol vessels in a series.
Each boat will have an LOA of nearly 12 metres. Aister said the boats were conceived to deliver the seakeeping performance of a larger vessel, "in an agile, fast response format."
Each boat will also feature an ergonomic enclosed cabin with 360-degree perimeter visibility. The cabin will be designed to protect personnel during complex manoeuvres and extended shifts.
The vessels will also combine high operational manoeuvrability with improved structural stability, which the builder said are key to interception and coastal surveillance missions.
The new Guardia Civil patrol boats are in the final stages of construction. Aister expects deliveries to commence before the end of the year.
Aister had also supplied a separate series of 18-metre, waterjet-equipped interceptors to the Guardia Civil to replace the agency's FRP-hulled vessels for missions including counter-narcotics trafficking and surveillance.
