The US Navy's Naval Sea Systems Command awarded Lockheed Martin a $208.96 million firm-fixed-price contract modification on September 30 for continued production of AN/SLQ-32(V)6 surface electronic warfare improvement program (SEWIP) Block 2 systems.

Work is expected to be completed by September 2029. If exercised, the modification’s options could raise the contract’s total value to $1.71 billion.

The full $208.96 million was obligated at award. Of this, $129.5 million comes from fiscal year 2026 shipbuilding and conversion funds, $58.2 million from fiscal year 2026 other procurement funds and $20.3 million from fiscal year 2025 other procurement funds.

A further $1 million is research, development, test and evaluation funding.

Work will be performed in Liverpool, New York (78 per cent) and Lansdale, Pennsylvania (22 per cent). The navy did not disclose the number of systems or the ships that will receive them.

SEWIP Block 2 adds upgraded antennas and a receiver, as well as an interface with the combat system, to the AN/SLQ-32 electronic-warfare system aboard ships.

It passively detects and analyses emissions from targeting radars and anti-ship missiles, and can cue jamming, decoys and other countermeasures through combat systems such as Aegis. Block 2 entered full-rate production in September 2016.

The separate SEWIP Block 3 adds electronic attack capability and is produced by Northrop Grumman, which received a modification in April covering up to nine additional systems.
