The US Navy Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers USS Stockdale (pictured) and the USS O’Kane successfully defeated a range of Houthi-launched weapons while transiting the Gulf of Aden, between November 30 and December 1, US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed via a press release on December 1.

The two destroyers were escorting three US owned, operated, and flagged merchant vessels. CENTCOM said the attacks resulted in no injuries and no damage to any vessels, civilian or US Naval.

The destroyers successfully engaged and defeated three anti-ship ballistic missiles (ASBMs), three one-way attack uncrewed aerial systems (OWA UAS), and one anti-ship cruise missile (ASCM), ensuring the safety of the ships and their personnel, as well as civilian vessels and their crews.

The incident is the second engagement in less than a month to involve Stockdale in the ongoing campaign to protect shipping against attacks by the Houthi rebels.

On November 11, Stockdale and sister ship USS Spruance were attacked by at least eight OWA UAS, five ASBMs, and three ASCMs, which were all successfully engaged and defeated.
