Two people suffered injuries after a yacht caught fire while at berth in the Port of Saint-Tropez on the French Riviera on Thursday, July 10.

The blaze on the Malta-flagged Sea Lady II ignited near the bow at around 20:00 local time on Thursday less than two hours after she arrived at the port.

Video footage that has since circulated online shows that the flames eventually spread to other parts of the vessel.

Two people who were on board the yacht were safely evacuated and were treated for injuries caused by smoke inhalation.

Local firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze while other emergency response personnel moved some nearby yachts further away from the burning vessel and deployed anti-pollution barriers in the marina's waters in anticipation of a potential sinking.

Fire officials said that difficulties were encountered as response teams boarded the vessel but that the blaze was brought under control before midnight.

The cause of the fire remains unknown.

Various media outlets have reported that Sea Lady II was originally built in 1986 and underwent an extensive refit in 2024.
