Two people are confirmed dead while a third has been hospitalised after a fishing vessel capsized off the tourist town of Beachport in South Australia on Monday, January 6.

The South Australia Police said it learned about the incident at around 11:30 local time on Monday when it was called to a beach near Point Connor just south of Beachport after reports that a lobster fishing boat had capsized and three people were unresponsive on shore.

A 59-year-old woman was taken to hospital in a stable condition. Sadly, however, two men, aged 82 and 69, respectively, were pronounced deceased at the scene.

All three people are from Millicent, a town some 34 kilometres southeast of Beachport. The female survivor was also the wife of one of the deceased, 7News reports.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing with the assistance of the SA Police's Water Operations Unit. Police officials added that there are no suspicious circumstances in relation to the capsizing.
