Two dead after falling overboard from fishing boat in Selangor, Malaysia
Malaysian news outlet The Star reports that two fishermen were killed after they fell overboard from their boat in Selangor state in Malaysia on Saturday, April 26.
Local authorities first learned of the incident at around 12:20 local time on Saturday when a relative of one of the victims said that the two men could not be located after falling into the water just off the Selangor fishing village of Kuala Sungai Buloh.
The two victims, aged 77 and 51, had sailed out on a fishing trip on Friday, April 25, and were originally scheduled to return to port at around 15:00 that same day.
Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) personnel found the bodies of the two deceased victims within an hour of each other in the late afternoon of Saturday. The remains were recovered less than half a nautical mile off Kuala Sungai Buloh.
The MMEA have since handed over the bodies to local police officials for post-mortem procedures as part of the investigation into the incident.
