Four people suffered injuries after a ferry accidentally struck a pylon while approaching a wharf in Sydney, Australia, on Monday, September 7.
The unidentified vessel was pulling into Sydney's Circular Quay with 149 passengers on board when the accident occurred on Monday afternoon (local time).
Paramedics who were dispatched in response to the mishap treated two injured individuals on-site. Two other injured passengers were brought to hospital.
One of the hospitalised passengers has been identified as a Nepalese tourist. Local media reported that this individual suffered a head laceration.
The New South Wales Police Force said that the ferry's captain and the engineer have been subjected to mandatory testing.
The NSW Police added that it is conducting an investigation, the results of which will be submitted to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority for further review.
Vessel operator Transdev Sydney Ferries meanwhile said that it will also investigate the events that led to the mishap.
Neither the vessel nor the wharf showed any visible signs of damage, though the accident resulted in the suspension of ferry services between Circular Quay, Manly and Chiswick.
