Two people suffered injuries after a truck-mounted crane overturned and caught fire at India's Mumbai Port on Sunday, August 30.
The incident occurred at around 19:15 local time at the port's India Dock as cargo was being unloaded from the Barbados-registered bulk carrier Vienna.
Police officials said two cranes were lifting a 140-tonne load off the ship when a cargo strap on one of the cranes suddenly failed. The cargo became unstable, and the truck toppled.
The friction caused by the two cranes coming into contact with each other during the collapse then ignited a fire, according to police.
Two crane operators suffered burns as a result of the incident, though their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The Mumbai Port Authority's own firefighting teams were able to bring the blaze under control in just under two hours while the two injured individuals were transported to hospital.
Cargo operations at the port were temporarily suspended as the incident site was kept off-limits to unauthorised personnel as a precaution.
An investigation is now ongoing to identify the probable causes of the mishap.
