Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri has launched a new cruise ship ordered by Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) subsidiary Oceania Cruises.
Fincantieri said Oceania Sonata is scheduled for delivery in 2027. Upon completion, the ship will have a gross tonne of 86,000 and a capacity of 1,390 guests.
Oceania Cruises said the ship has been designed with large spaces and "high levels of comfort," with one-third of the guest accommodation consisting of suites.
Oceania Sonata will be the ninth ship in the Oceania Cruises fleet. Fincantieri said the ship will also be, "the most spacious and amenity-rich in the [Oceania] fleet."
Three additional ships from the same series are scheduled for delivery to NCLH in 2029, 2032 and 2035, respectively.
The second ship will be handed over to Oceania Cruises while the final two vessels will be operated by Regent Seven Seas Cruises, another wholly owned subsidiary of NCLH.
Fincantieri stated that the construction of the upcoming fleet will follow the technical standards established during its previous projects for the cruise line.
Fincantieri had also delivered two earlier ships from a different series to Oceania Cruises. These are the 2023-built Vista and the 2025-built Allura.
